Our Story

Our matriarch and founder Sue Carlisle began Straight to the Plate Catering (STTP) in 2007. She started with a limited menu allowing her to focus on quality food and authentic connections with clients. We still have some of those original items on our menu all these years later as customer favorites, such as our must try Signature Glazed Meatballs! Sue’s positivity and passion for life after surviving a rare, life-threatening illness earned her the 2009 Maricopa Citizen of the Year Award. The STTP team lost Sue in 2021, and her passion for creating exceptional events — and an amazing place to work — is a legacy we continue each day.

“The economy had just tanked, we had just closed our franchise, Entrees Made Easy, and I was recovering from my illness. We only owned two chafing dishes and had no money to start a catering company. So, we got out a 4-ingredient cookbook and invited our friends to join us for a tasting of our first 25 recipes at our home.”

Brett, Sue’s husband, is now at the helm of STTP as our Owner and Director of Operations. He proves to be the team’s biggest pillar of support day in and day out. Our culture of respect and inclusion starts at the top with Brett’s unwavering passion to create an exceptional place to work. Rylee — Brett & Sue’s daughter — is the powerhouse of our server team, as Director of Service, this role allows her to leverage over a decade of experience at STTP with her leadership skills she honed at the University of Wyoming to increase the level of service we provide while maintaining a strong service team. Beth, our Director of Sales & Events, joined the STTP team in 2020 after working as a luxury wedding planner in Las Vegas. Beth’s passion has always been to create exceptional, truly memorable dining experiences, and that passion shows with each event STTP produces.
